Next Steps

Next steps in our faith exist because of the most important step of all -the first one.
A relationship with Jesus is the First Step.

Jesus told us, "Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me." (John 15:4) Personal daily disciplines such as Bible reading, Bible study, prayer, memorizing scripture, and others help us to remain in Jesus daily. With all the authority of heaven and earth Jesus commanded us to, "go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing (literally submerging) them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit." (Matthew 28:19) As Jesus taught us, baptism is a step of obedience that goes hand-in-hand with salvation. We are better together than apart! God is a father who desires community with us as His children, and also for us as His children. The Bible tells us, "let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now..."  (Hebrews 10:25)  MCity Groups are how we maintain a closer community together.  It is a time when we come together and pray for one another, study the Bible together, encourage and support one another. GO, AND MAKE DISCIPLES! Last words are important! Jesus' last words for us His disciples were "go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit." (Matthew 28:19) Until He returns we have a mission -to make disciples who make disciples. Our mission and vision as a church is to DEVELOP AND DEPLOY DISCIPLES. The Church is not a building, but a people of God! At Mission City Church we don't have to serve, we GET to serve the King of Kings and the people of Mission City. The hope of the world has come to Vermont through His people here. This movement of God is driven by our servants. In the book of Deuteronomy, God tells his people that tithing teaches them to always fear Him. In other words, it teaches God's people to always put Him first in their lives. (Deut. 14:23) There is no better way to say, "God, You are first in my life" than when we put Him first in our finances. When we believe God to take care of us financially we grow deeper in our faith and strength in Him.
