Frequently asked questions

We have tried to answer many of the questions that most folks wonder before attending the first time.  If you don't see your question answered Email Us.

Address & directions

We are located in the Diamond Run Mall at 46 Diamond Run Mall Place, Rutland, Vermont 05701.

Enter the Diamond Run Mall from the main mall entrance at the intersection of Route 4 & Route 7 (on Sunday morning and Thursday evening you will see our church banner flag).  We are in the south end of the mall near the food court area.  Look for our parking signs and wave at our welcome team that serves by greeting you in the parking area and as you enter our service area.

We have our own outside entrance or you can use one of our mall entrances from within the mall.

Sunday Service Time

On Sunday we offer two services, they begin at 9:00am and 10:45am.  On Thursday the service is at 6:30pm.

Children are received in the children's check in area 15 minutes before hand.  If you get here late with children, no worries they are still welcomed in our children's area.

If you can come a little early, you can enjoy some coffee and fellowship with others before the service.  We always have water and tea available as well.

What kind of church is Mission city church?

Mission City Church is a healthy and growing Christ-centered church.

We seek to be :

A church where anyone is welcome;

a church free of judgement;

a safe haven for the broken and lost.

Everything we do and teach is based on the Bible and the person of Jesus Christ.

What is the Sunday service like?

Worship Service

All the words to the songs we sing are on large screens for all to see and most people sing and clap along.  Some might lift their hands humbly in worship; some might simply listen and reflect quietly. We invite you to be who you are and to genuinely seek God.  We normally sing 3-5 songs before the message is started.

Pastor Owens our lead pastor brings the word of God in a passionate way.  In his own words he gets "jacked-up" when he is sharing about the saving power of Jesus Christ.  His enthusiasm is contagious and inspiring.  We are blessed to also have Pastor Vest as our Rutland location pastor and he brings the word of God with conviction and compassion.  Bible verses are displayed on two large screens for all to see and follow and message notes are given as you enter the service.  Each weeks audio message is uploaded to our church website so you can hear it again or share it with others.

Time of Giving

Our time of giving to the Lord comes after the message.  It is another way to worship the Lord and we sing our closing song as the green offering buckets are passed to collect  connection cards and offering envelopes.

do I have to wear my fancy duds?

NOPE, come casual. There is no formal "church" dress code, at least not here.  Most folks wear jeans, a pair of khakis, or business casual… whatever you're comfortable in.

Our services are air conditioned so if you dress light keep this in mind.

What about my kids?

Children through 5th grade age will have fun in MCityKids!  We have age appropriate areas for them to play and learn about God.  Dress your kids casual so they can play and have fun.

Our welcome team will help guide you to the children’s check-in area.  Child Pagers are available for any parent during the service who would like one.

You are also welcome to keep your children with you in the main worship service as long as they are not a distraction to others.

Other questions...

Where are the bathrooms?

Our children's area has a bathroom for the children, the children's serve team and anyone who is handicap.  Everyone else will need to use the main mall bathrooms in the food court area which are just a short stroll away.  Any of our greeters or servant team would be happy to direct you.

I don't have a bible or I forgot mine, can I borrow one?

We've got you covered.  We have free bibles to anyone who would like one.  Borrow one for the service or take it home as our gift to you.

Is your worship service really loud?

We don't think so, but we do have an energetic worship team which sings and plays keyboards, guitars (acoustic, electric & bass), and drums.  No worries here either, because just in case you think it's too loud we do have ear plugs available,  just ask.

Why meet at a mall?

Why not?  As we've grown in attendance we have met at the library in West Rutland, the Flagship Cinema and the Holiday Inn.  The church is not a building, it is the people of God.

Is there a bus that runs to the mall?

The mall is on the Diamond Express route that arrives at the south entrance of the mall at the top of every hour on Sundays.  During the week if you needed to make an appointment with one of our pastors there are several fixed routes that arrive at the mall on a regular basis.

Is the website the only place with information about Mission City Church?

Not at all, we have a very active and up to date Facebook page with encouragement, pictures, messages from Pastor Owens and much more.  We also have additional pictures on Instagram.

Someone told me that if I came I would get a gift card to Dunkin Donuts, is this true?

Yes, if you are a first time guest and you fill out your name and address on a connection card and put it in the offering bucket we do mail you a $5 gift card.
